Following elections on 4 June 2009, Keith Roberts, Conservatives, has been elected Shropshire Council Councillor for Radbrook. He beat Anne Woolland, Liberal Democrats, the only other candidate, with 754 votes against 723. Voter turnout was 48.51%, with a total electorate of 3,082. In an uncontested election, Keith Roberts was also elected Shrewsbury Town Councilor for Radbrook Ward.

On Friday, 1 May, over 130 children took their bicycles into school for security marking by community police and local police officers and Dr Bike from Stan Jones checked tyres. Children also had a chance to try the ‘smoothy bike’ – a bicycle fitted with a liquidiser that made a smoothy by pedal power. Ingredients were supplied by the local Co-op Store. Monday, 18 May is the beginning of walk to school week when children are asked to encourage parents to leave their car at home and walk to school.

A workshop was due to be held at the Community Centre commencing on Monday, February 9. This 8-week workshop will now take place on the second and fourth Mondays of the month commencing Monday, 9 March from 7.15 – 9.15 p.m. The aim is to help change relationships from reaction to genuine understanding, incorporating the NVC process pioneered by Marshall Rosenberg. Vodafone has lodged an appeal with the Secretary of State in respect of the installation of a 10m mast to support 3 no shrouded antennas and 1 equipment cabinet and associated development at a site near the shopping centre on Bank Farm Road. Flu clinics will be held at Radbrook Green Surgery from 8.30 – 11.30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25. Clinics will also be held from 2 – 3.30 p.m. on Thursday, November 6. Flu clinics are for patients over 65 and those who are classed as ‘vulnerable’. You are free to attend on whichever date suits best and the November 6 date is for those unable to attend the Saturday sessions. No appointment required.
The first match of the season was held at Picklescott and the Radbrook team took part with only two team members as they were unable to make up a full team of four. However, the team of two – David Barrow and Marion Howarth – managed a creditable fourth place. Last year, Radbrook’s team came top of the second division quiz league and were duly promoted to play in the first division.
