Your Chance to Get Involved!
Time: Thursday, 4 July 2013 at 7.00 p.m.
The following text from Ken James, Committee Officer, Legal and Democratic Services, Shropshire Council:
The Shrewsbury Wide Local Joint Committee provides a new way for Shropshire Council and Shrewsbury Town Council to work together with local people for the benefit of the town. It will enable local people to have their say, put forward their own views and get involved in decisions about issues that affect the whole of Shrewsbury. There is also a budget available to assist projects which have a Shrewsbury-wide impact.
Building on the tremendous success of our meeting on 29th November 2012, when some 200 people attended an Open Forum, our next meeting promises to be just as interesting and valuable. Bill Longmore the West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner will be speaking at the meeting on future plans for policing throughout West Mercia region. He will be followed by Inspector James Dunn who will look at the local implications for Shrewsbury.
In addition, George Candler, the Director of Commissioning for Shropshire Council, will be present to explain what Local Commissioning means and how it will affect the delivery of services in Shrewsbury in the future.
Councillors, Officers and representatives of other organisations will be present to hear the views of residents and answer questions. We will also have some time to plan future agendas and consider requests received for grant funding.
