Plans are underway to install a puffin crossing on Bank Farm Road near to the shopping centre. There are council notices about this attached to some nearby lamp-posts. If all goes according to plan, the work will be done over the summer holidays. In case you’re wondering what a puffin crossing is, it’s like a pelican crossing but the lights controlling the pedestrians are on the near-side of the road, rather than on the opposite side. The system also utilises sensors which detect the presence of pedestrians waiting to cross and as they cross the road.
